William Kutteh, M.D., and Paul Brezina, M.D., returned from the 2017 Annual Meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) in San Diego, California.

They served as faculty to over 500 OB/GYN physicians across the country who attended their “flipped classroom” course on “Genetics for the Next Generation of OB/GYN.” Dr. Kutteh and Dr. Brezina discussed the evolving applications for genetic testing in OB/GYN, including:

  • Carrier screening for autosomal recessive diseases prior to pregnancy
  • Non-invasive prenatal testing for genetic abnormalities in pregnant women
  • 23-chromosome microarray genetic testing on miscarriage tissue

During the meeting, Paul Brezina, M.D., and William Kutteh, M.D., met with the President of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), Haywood Brown, M.D., to discuss the best ways to get genetic testing information to OB/GYN physicians across the country. “The course on genetics for the next generation taught by Dr. Brezina and Dr. Kutteh was one of the most widely attended courses at our Annual Meeting. We appreciate their expertise in presenting this complicated field of reproductive genetics in a way that was understandable to all those who attended,” said Dr. Brown. Both Dr. Brezina and Dr. Kutteh have been invited faculty at the Annual Meeting of ACOG for many years.
