Dr. William Kutteh, was an invited faculty at The Best of ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) and ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine). The meeting was held in Paris, France from February 23-25, 2017. Over 100 delegates from 65 countries were present at the international conference that combined the best presentations from last years ESHRE and ASRM meetings. Dr. Kutteh presented extensive data on the risks and possible benefits of the use of pre-implantation genetic testing for couples with recurrent pregnancy loss. ” The recent Committee Opinion from the Canadian Obstetrics and Gynecology Society reported strong evidence to support the use of pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) for couples with balanced translocations however this technology will only apply to about 2% to 3% of couples with recurrent pregnancy loss” reported Dr. Kutteh. “The evidence to support the use of pre-implantation genetic screening in couples with recurrent pregnancy loss to screen for abnormal embryos after in vitro fertilization is weak, and more studies are needed before we can demonstrate that this expensive treatment is superior to supportive care”.
